Does PPTC organize tours?

i.e. self-contained camping trips of a week or more. If so, where is the online info? Thanks, pete

self-contained camping trips

It's very hard to find groups that organize such tours, there unfortunately aren't many people that enjoy it. The only group I know of who do this on a regular basis is Adventure Cycling (http://www.adventurecycling.org/). You might also look at crazyguyonabike (http://crazyguyonabike.com) to get ideas and advice about tours. Both groups help people self-organize trips with "companions wanted" types of listings. I've done this type of touring for decades and enjoy it. I've been on a couple Adventure Cycling tours and this year I self-organized a trip (with people I met on last year's AC trip) from Seattle to San Francisco (http://crazyguyonabike.com/doc/nwcoast2007). It was a lot of fun. I'm thinking this year maybe a trip from DC to Montreal, or maybe a tour of Colorado. Liam

re: tours

I'm glad to hear that you apparently had a good time w/ the ACA folk, as I am planning on taking a trip w/ them this year. I've done the C&O. It's very nice, but *bump*. In the master plan, the Blue Ridge is next year. pete

leading tours

No, but we could if someone wants to organize them. (In the past members have organized trips down the C&O Canal.) Many other clubs do but they have members who are interested in leading them. The Executive Committee would certainly be interested in people taking these kinds of things on. Catherine Kitchell Chair
