Zap the (Chester) Gap -- Extended Version 61 miles

Ride based on one of the PPTC Zap the Gap Rides. There are several variants. This version was extended from 50 to 61 miles by BStrong, I'm told. MSimmons lead the version I based this on. The ride is similar to the "Stormin' the Gap" ride (63) in Scott and Jim's Favorite Bike Rides (except the extensions are more interesting) This cue sheet adds the elevation profile. This ride goes through beautiful contry, and as the Ride Leader noted, the hard work on the hills going out, is rewarded by more than a couple of long downhill spins coming back. The ride leader even arranged a lovely tail wind for the return! Note multiple (possible) hazards at Morgan's Ford (low water bridge) at 36.8 mi on the 61 mile route (see photo). HAZARDS included a) bridge appears with little warning around a BEND on a DESCENT, b) stopped cars in your lane waiting, c) oncoming traffic, and d) ROUGH bridge surface. Go slowly. Zoom in on the map for detail. There is lots of it down there.
