Message for the Wed night Ivy Lane (Madcap) Riders

I want to thank all of the Wed nite Madcap riders for your thoughts, prayers, and especially for stopping to help me after my accident. I was just released from the hospital today, and thankfully (miraculously!) I have no broken bones...only two jammed fingers, very badly damaged right leg, assorted cuts and bruises, one stitch in the lip, one tooth lost, and two badly broken. I will need more dental work, but I should heal physically very quickly. Emotionally, it is a completely different story, as I cannot understand why someone would intentionally hit me. I heard that several of you asked what happened. In brief, I was ahead of the main group on Springfield Rd, and as I came up to Good Hope Rd, there was a car stopped at the stop sign. Even though it wasn't necessary (since we have the right of way), I held out my arm and indicated I was going left (straight). The car pulled into the intersection, hesitated, and then came directly at me. I tried to go around him, but he turned right into me and then stepped on the gas as he fled the scene. A man in a pickup truck came by and asked if that car had just hit me. I managed a "yes", and he burned rubber trying to catch him. The only details I remember about the car are that is was a 4-dr, dark green sedan, with a thin gold stripe around it and tinted windows. It looked like a 90's model Toyota Camry. I have no updates on the case and do not know if the man in the truck was able to get any plate information. Thanks again for your concern. I hope to see you out on the road sometime soon. Michelle

UPDATE: Message for the Wed night Ivy Lane (Madcap) Riders

I found out today that witnesses were unable to provide license plate information on the car that hit me. Please keep your eyes open in the Greenbelt area for a 90's model Toyota Camry, dark green with a thin gold stripe and possibly tinted windows. There should be damage on the right front bumper where the car hit my leg. The driver most likely uses those roads regularly during the same time each night. If you spot the suspect vehicle, please contact Officer Clagett at (301) 390-2100. Thank you and be safe on the roads! Michelle
