Forums with email delivery option
If PPTC wants to stick to forums, and many members want email delivery, why not have both?
I believe this can be done with one solution. There are forums that members can subscribe to forums, have them delivered via email, and never have to visit the web version of the forum. In this manner a person could select all or some of the forums for email delivery. Alternatively could select only individual threads for delivery. Having the ability to RSS feed is helpful for those who prefer to keep this separate from email.
Here is an example:

I appreciate not only all the work that's gone into creating these PPTC forums, and the Google Group, but also the ensuing thought/discussion folks are putting into this. We'll make a great united decision for one solution. Perhaps the one described above could work for most/all involved? Perhaps someone with more knowledge than I could investigate this technology?

forums via email
there are RSS 'readers' that will route an RSS feed to you via email ...
see http://www.rssfwd.com/ ... first you provide the rss feed url, then you provide your email.
that allows you to read all forum posts via email ... but it doesnt deal with the posting problem ... i know of no way to post to a forum via email ... does anyone?
and for me it is posting in a hurry that is the deal breaker in my use of forums.

You wrote "see http://www.rssfwd.com/ ... first you provide the rss feed url, then you provide your email." I'm not sure I understand what you meant by "provide the rss feed url". could you be more specific as to using this to get PPTC forum posts to my email address?

email vs browser
Thanks for the tip on: http://www.rssfwd.com
Does it take that much more time to bring up a web site via a browser than to send email?
With browsers than have multiple tabs (Firefox for many yrs, even IE7 finally)you can bring up multiple sites with one mouse click.
RSS fed to you can open link and take you right to the site.
Now if you are using a Blackberry, then email is (I believe) the best option currently. Are a lot of PPTC folks using Blackberries for PPTC communications?? I am not.
I am in the process of shifting most group forms of communication (not just PPTC) from email to RSS. This clears out email for other needs eg one on one communications.
It's great to have multiple options with today's technology!
