Member Directory

Something to add to the wish list would be the addition of city and state as fields that can be filled in when doing a member search.

I met a fellow club member on a recent ride and remembered his first name (let's say "Mike"), but not his last name. I knew he lived in Arlington. But the only way that I could search the directory was by first name. Lots of Mikes. It would have been nice to have narrowed the search to Mikes in Arlington, VA.

I suppose another solution would be to display City and State in the search results, rather than creating new search fields. Either solution would be helpful.

Thanks for all the good work.

searching for people

you can search by the type of bike that they have (assuming they've entered it into the directory) so if you knew Mike had a Trek or a Colnago or whatever that can narrow it down (again assuming the mysterious Mike has entered his bikes in to the system)

Unfortunately the bike

Unfortunately the bike search seems to require an exact match. So if you remember the bike was a Trek you will not find it unless he entered it as Trek. If he typed in Trek 5000. It won't be found searching for Trek. I've tried it with a few "wild card" search methods on my own bike and can't find it. Lemond? Lemond* It may be asking too much, but "begins with" as the default for the bike search would be nice and alternative searches like "exact match" and "contains" would be even more useful. City search would really be nice too, not many people have entered their bike(s). You are not findable by your bikes because the system sees all three as one bike, so even getting Trek 5200 right doesn't find you.

try the "%" sign for

try the "%" sign for searches, e.g. %trek%

This seems to work for me. We do need to enter more information on this as well as improve the search functionality. Any volunteers that enjoy php programming are certainly welcome to talk with me or Steve Wartik.

Thanks Marc

That worked. Sorry I don't know php or any other programming.

Unfortunately the bike

I'll reenter my bikes! Didn't realize that (and I went to great lengths to enter in the "new" Colnago.) I think the website guys can work on this sooner or later....
