Wondering if any club members have purchased a 2007 Fuji Crosstown 1.0 and how they like it...other hybrid recommendations? The last bike I purchased new was 20 years ago!

I have an older Fuji Crosstown 1.0 & I have been very happy with it. Now I have a lot of miles on it & I've decided to treat myself to a new bike. Among choices are a new Crosstown 1.0, a Novara Forza, & one or 2 Motobecane bikes from an internet vendor. I am curious about front forks. Can anyone tell me about the pros & cons of suspension, carbon fiber, etc? I'd also be glad to hear any recommendations.
