PPTC's Annual Meeting
Call for Nominations for the 2008 Executive Committee
The 2008 PPTC annual meeting will take place Saturday, January 12, at the River Road Unitarian Church, 6301 River Road (MD Route 190), Bethesda MD. The annual meeting is a great social event (bring your favorite potluck dish, the club provides drinks, plates, etc.) and an opportunity to recognize the people who work hard to keep the club going, as well as the venue for electing a new Executive Committee for 2008.
The Executive Committee needs new people to run for office. The club needs a Chair-elect who acts essentially as vice-president in 2008 and takes over as Chair for 2009. The perfect candidate has some long-term experience with the club and some basic administrative/managerial experience running a non-profit. Most importantly, they care about promoting recreational biking in the DC area.
The club is also in need of a Treasurer and two At-Large Members. The Treasurer is responsible for presenting a budget for the Club (along with assistance from the rest of the Ex Com) and giving investment advice and signing checks, etc. The regular bookkeeping duties are handled by our paid part-time administrator. The two At-Large Members are also needed. Meetings are the 3rd Tuesday of every month, last about 2 hours and included a catered pizza dinner.
The recipient of the Peter LeGrand Good Shepherd Award is announced at the Annual Meeting. All nominations for the award should be sent to any current member of the Executive Committee by December 1st. Email (current Chair).
PPTC has also announced two new awards that will be presented at the Annual Meeting. Information about those awards is below:
- Rookie Ride Leader Award
- An award for the Ride Leader who has lead his or her first ride for the club in the past calendar year and has shown a dedication to continuing to lead rides and following the club's Ride Leader Guidelines. Nominations for the award should be made to any Executive Committee member by the December Ex Com meeting date (the third Tuesday of December).
- Best Original Ride of the Year
- An award for the member or members who develop the best original ride of the year. The ride should be new in the last calendar year and should highlight new routes, roads and areas not usually taken on PPTC rides. Nominations for the award should be made to any Executive Committee member by the December Ex Com meeting date (the third Tuesday of December).
More details about the meeting and the election will be on the website and in next month's Pedal Patter.
All PPTC members are encouraged to attend the annual meeting and to vote. Hope to see you there! It's a fun meeting.
