Tuscarora Bridge on Rt 28 Closed
Submitted by epilsk on Sat, 07/28/2007 - 18:24.
Saw notices today that the bridge over Tuscarora Creek near Point of Rocks on Rt 28 will be closed starting tomorrow. The bridge is between Point of Rocks and the Route 28-Route 85 T intersection. Not sure how long it will be out or whether it will be passable to cyclists, so check it if you are planning a ride out that way.

10/13 update on Tuscarora Bridge closure
I checked it out today after the POO ride. I parked at New Design where the road is closed and biked down to where the construction is....not passable and they were doing work on a Saturday. Also, on the map there seemed to be an unnamed cut-through road between Pleasant View and New Design but it appears that's just gravel....maybe just a seriew of driveways or something. So to cut from Pleasant View to New Design you have to go up to Doubs and Mountville.
Tuscarora Bridge Reopened
According to the Washington Post's Dr. Gridlock: "The Tuscarora Road Bridge, which takes Route 28 over Tuscarora Creek in Frederick County, has reopened after a reconstruction project that began in July."

Does anyone know if this
Does anyone know if this bridge is between Pleasant View and New Design Rds. on 28? I need to recue the Twice Across the River ride next week if this bridge is still closed and not at least walkable.
Looking on Google Maps satellite I *think* I see where this bridge is, but I want to confirm. I was hoping to be able to jump off at New Desgin, but it looks as if the bridge is BEFORE New Design when coming from POR.
Any update on this
