bike tour pedals and seat
Submitted by MelOnWheels on Tue, 07/31/2007 - 09:39.
advice, please, on taking my own cleats and pedals with me on a 6 day bike tour...
i have road shoes with pedals on my road bike
i have mountain bike shoes with pedals on my mountain bike
my urge is to take the road shoes and my road bike pedals, using "coffee caps" for the few moments in the day i'm off the bike
other option is to take the mountain shoes and mountain bike pedals so i'm more comfy for those off the bike moments
any experience out there that would sway me one way or the other?
also, i've never removed my pedals, so was going to have my local bike shop do it for me...silly ???
should i take my seat, too???

Advice, for what it's worth
Where is your trip? If you stop in muddy or sandy terrain, you will find mountain bike shoes much more practical than road bike shoes.
The long and short of removing pedals is that you either need a pedal wrench -- in which case it's easy -- or you need biceps of a mass seldom found on cyclists. The other thing to watch out for is the opposing threading, which I can never keep straight.
pedals and seat
thanks for the comments, both on the forum and via private emails...i had the pedals and seat removed the The Bike Rack for transport to Oregon. I'll carry sandals in my day pack :>) can't wait !!!
