A nice ride with some pretty overlook views of the water on the longer route. The ride has some hills, but is not too difficult. The ride back after lunch is the same for both rides and is about 10 miles. The ride leaders will be doing the 42 mile ride. Directions: From Beltway Exit 19, take US-50 (John Hanson Hwy) east 11 miles and exit south on MD-424 (Davidsonville Rd). Remain on MD-424 until it ends (about 5 miles) at MD-2 (Solomon's Island Rd). Turn right on MD-2. Go 2 miles then right into school. Call ride leaders if weather is doubtful. Take a springtime ride through picturesque, historic, Clarke County on the lightly traveled roads that are part of the PPTC Century in the fall. These roads are just too perfect to do but once a year! Some rolling hills (only about 1200 ft gain in all), but the scenery and the wonderful food at Locke Store in Milltown make it well worth the effort. Note the 10:30 start to give everyone extra time for the drive to Berryville. If weather doubtful, call before 9 am. Southwestern portion of DC Capitol Beltway (495). *exit 45A (VA-267 Toll W toward Dulles Airport). Go 25.1 mi (26 mins). *Take exit 1A (US-15 S/VA-7 W toward Warrenton/Leesburg). Go 0.6 mi. Some hills, some quite rideable unpaved trails, and minimal traffic for a city.
