Mount Vernon to Mason Neck State Park, VA. Out and back 40-mile ride. Starts at Mt. Vernon Estate, goes thru Fort Belvoir and the Pohick Bay area into Mason Neck State Park. Restrooms and soda machine at the Mason Neck turnaround. Gunston Hall, Mt. Vernon Grist Mill and Distillery are nearby alternate stops. See eagles and osprey in Pohick Bay and Mason Neck. New food court at Mt. Vernon includes outdoor seating where we could eat after the ride. Photo IDs are required to enter Ft. Belvoir (Must have photo ID driver’s license or passport.) Directions: Look for brown signs to Mt. Vernon. Directions: Meet at the northeast (riverside) parking lot in Mt Vernon, near the start of the Mt. Vernon Trail. From Points North --Take the George Washington Pkwy. south to Mt. Vernon. From Points East -- I-95 Exit 177B, Rt. 1 North (first exit in Va.), first right on Franklin St., right on Washington St./George Washington Pkwy., 9 miles to Mt. Vernon. >From Points South & West -- I-95 Exit 166A, Fairfax County Pkwy (Rt. 7100) south, left on Richmond Hwy. (Rt. 1), right Mt. Vernon Memorial Hwy. (VA 235) 3 miles to Mt. Vernon. Allen Pond Park in Bowie (ALP) to Deale Harbor and back. Northview Dr & Nottinghill Dr, Bowie, MD, 20716 Directions: DC Capitol Beltway (I-95/495), Exit onto Rt. 50 (John Hansen Hwy)east. Go 6 miles. *exit SOUTH onto Rt. 197 (Collington Rd). (Both directions are labeled "Bowie" – Rt. 50 bisects Bowie.) *At the first traffic light, turn right onto Northview Dr. Go 0.9 mile, *turn right just after the 3rd traffic light (@ Nottinghill Dr) into the park entrance, adjacent to the Bowie Ice Arena. Sat July 26, 2008 - Ride in the Valley Tandem * 24/42/57 * 9:30AM * Beaver Creek P&R Martin's Mill. Start is about 1 hour from both Washington and Baltimore beltways. Come enjoy the quiet roads in the valley east of Hagerstown! We'll cycle over an 1863 stone bridge, past stone farm houses, pretty farms, and a visit across the border into PA. The long route adds a visit to the Martin's Mill covered bridge. All routes converge in Smithsburg for a lunch stop about 8 miles from the end. Directions: I-70 West to exit 35, MD 66. Turn right (North) at end of ramp. Go 0.2 miles, turn right into parking lot. Poolesville High School - Circling Sugarloaf. Directions: I: From Beltway, take I-270 north to Rockville Exit-6 onto MD-28 west. In 12 miles, bear left onto MD-107 and then in 5 miles turn left on Willard Rd. School is one block on left. Park behind school, not in front and not near public library. II: For less traffic, from Beltway, take I-270 north 10 miles to Exit-10, MD-117/ Clopper Rd west, in 0.5 mile turn left at second traffic light onto MD-124 / Quince Orchard Rd. Continue 2.8 miles then turn right at traffic light onto MD-28 / Darnestown Rd. In 5.9 miles, bear left onto MD-107 and then in 5 miles turn left on Willard Rd. HS is one block on left.
